   This Spanish word (meaning "little altar") refers to a small shrine that is customary in Hispanic homes and serves as a place for family prayer. An altarcito, which usually includes statues or pictures of Jesus, Mary, and patron saints, as well as photographs or mementos of deceased or absent family members, is often decorated with flowers and candles, especially on feast days.
